These are not three identical products

IDEX is both a technology supplier and a seller of access-card solutions, while SentryCard and AuthenTrend present branded finished products. A useful comparison must therefore focus on the deployable configuration offered to the buyer rather than treating every IDEX-based card as one universal model.

IDEX offers the broadest configurable platform story

IDEX presents cards that can combine physical credentials, FIDO2 login and visual identity. Its compatibility page lists technologies including MIFARE DESFire EV3, LEGIC Neon, HID Seos, PKOC and LEAF. Buyers must confirm which interfaces, certifications and credential technologies are present in the quoted card.

SentryCard emphasizes convergence and identity binding

SentryCard positions one fingerprint-bound card for existing physical readers and logical access. The company also connects the card to SentryCard360, a broader applicant-verification and recovery workflow. That wider system introduces external identity services that should be assessed separately from the on-card fingerprint function.

AuthenTrend publishes the clearest multi-protocol card specification

AuthenTrend lists NFC and smart-card interfaces, FIDO2/U2F, PIV/PKI and MIFARE Type A in a 0.8 mm, 5.8 gram card. The optional ATKey.Badge holder adds USB-C connectivity. This is attractive where FIDO and established smart-card infrastructure must coexist.

Do not compare marketing superlatives

Claims such as unhackable, phishing-proof or compatible with existing infrastructure require scope. Ask for threat models, exact certification records, reader matrices, middleware requirements and reference deployments. A successful demonstration is not the same as a manageable workforce rollout.

A practical pilot plan

Select representative doors, readers, operating systems and identity services. Test enrollment, wet or damaged fingers, false rejects, lost-card replacement, offboarding, accessibility, help-desk workload and offline behavior. Require written answers for where biometric templates exist during every lifecycle stage.

Which one is best?

There is no defensible universal winner from public material alone. IDEX may suit configurable multi-technology programs, SentryCard may suit organizations evaluating a wider identity chain, and AuthenTrend may suit environments needing published FIDO2 and PIV/PKI support in one passive card. The best choice depends on the exact ordered configuration and verified pilot results.
