The user proposition

A biometric payment card can authorize a contact or contactless transaction after local fingerprint verification, potentially reducing dependence on a PIN for supported journeys. Exact behavior depends on issuer, network, terminal and card configuration.

The surrounding ecosystem is the product

A deployable card needs more than a sensor. Secure hardware, biometric algorithms, payment application, antenna, power management, card body, personalization, enrollment and issuer operations must work together within network and regulatory requirements.

Certification is necessary but scoped

EMVCo and card-network evaluations can establish defined performance, security or interoperability properties. Check the precise component and configuration covered. Certification does not by itself prove consumer demand, issuer economics or mass production.

Evidence ladder

Rank evidence from prototype, certification and pilot through named issuer launch, repeat production orders, active card base, renewal and expansion. Company announcements should be attributed; shipment and revenue evidence are stronger than an unnamed trial.

What we will track

My Biometric Cards will follow IDEX and the wider ecosystem for named issuers, repeat orders, production partners, enrollment methods, card longevity, geographic availability and independently reported user outcomes.
